I began my pursuit of health in May of 2012 shortly after losing a loved one to a lengthy battle with cancer. I was tired, broken and sad; I'd forgotten the importance of taking care of myself. Phase one of Twelve Weeks to a New You found some of the RAC's amazing professionals...Health Coach Christy, Dietitian Branda and Trainer Kasi literally taking me by the hand and guiding me toward my dreams. These women have ignited a fire within me to succeed and never look back. Now, in my fifth phase, I've ditched my high blood pressure meds and have become a completely new person.
TWNY was such a positive experience for me. Branda and Suze taught me so much about fitness. I learned how important it is to make healthy diet choices along with weight training to achieve my fitness goals. I lost weight, gained muscles and feel so much better about my health. The fact that I completed this program with two friends added additional support and accountability and made it a lot more fun. I look forward to phase two as I continue the difficult yet essential process of taking care of myself. Tracy (2013)
The 12 Weeks to a New You program is fantastic! The new group option is part of what made it a success for me. Many days when I didn't feel like working out or needed motivation to stay strong and eat healthy, my friends in the group kept me going. By going through it together, we had each other for support and were all very successful in the program. And of course, the RAC staff (Branda and Suzi)were amazingly supportive along the way.
My husband and I had originally planned on doing TWNY together, but his schedule did not allow for the frequent meetings and training sessions. As luck would have it, the RAC decided to offer a group package this fall, so two of my good friends and I decided to give it a try instead. For me, the difference between TWNY and regular dieting and exercise is that this program is as much about education as results. All along the way you are learning about how your body and mind coexist with food and exercise. The TWNY staff are very knowledgable and passionate about what they do. With their encouragement and the constant support I received from my other group members, I was able to surpass my original weight-loss goal. In addition, I was able to take the information I learned from TWNY home to my family and my husband lost as much weight as I did! Now my friends and I are signed on for Phase 2 to make sure the healthy changes we have made to our lives become permanent.

The Twelve Week to a New You program was an awesome experience. It surpassed my expectations of what I thought I would gain from participating. Although I had completed a few "diet" programs over the years, the Twelve Week to a New You program was very unique, in that it not only guided me through healthy eating strategies to lose weight, but also included the fitness component. This combination, when followed closely, allowed me to feel more fit and energetic than I have for years. My weight loss was very significant, and the same time, I was able to gain strength and balance (and body toning) that has made me feel fantastic and look fit and thin. It surprised me that I was able to lose the weight, and yet enjoy foods without feeling hungry. I contribute feeling so fantastic to being able to work weekly with a fitness trainer, who adapted all my exercise routines to fit my personal needs, along with the guidance of an experienced dietitian, who encouraged and directed me throughout the entire program. The most important decision I have made in years is to join the RAC and sign up for the TWNY program. Before liftoff, flight attendants tell us to cover our own faces with the oxygen mask before trying to help others. That's a life lesson that applies to our health as well. Since joining, I've received direction, focus and support and in return I've gained self-confidence, energy, and strength. Branda, a nutrition wizard, provided accountability and an eating program with food choices that was flexible enough for me to stick with, even through the holidays. Christy, wellness coach and surrogate BFF, showed me things I was doing to sabotage my previous successes, and helped me find tools to strengthen my commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Suzi, trainer and motivator extraordinaire, not only strengthened my muscles, she also achieved the impossible: she made me WANT to exercise. My knees don't hurt, my clothes don't fit (that's good!), I sleep better, and I have more energy. This changed my life, but even better, this changed the lives of people around me. My husband dropped 20 pounds and I don't know how many points off his blood pressure because of what I am doing that he just naturally does with me. My family and friends that are now eating better and exercising more say it's because of me, but all I did was take care of myself with the help of the TWNY staff. It's worth it. It works. Do it. Nothing feels better than feeling fit and trim. When I started the program at the RAC, I did not realize what my eating habits were doing to my health. I lost 14 pounds and several inches from my chest, waist, and hips. One month after the program, I continue to track my calories, food choices, and exercise daily. I have maintained my weight loss and have gone from a size 10 to a size 6. I feel great and love how I look. Thank you Branda and Suzi!

This Client stopped in 2 months after completing the program to share good news she had just received from her doctor. Her cholesterol dropped from 270 (high) to 189 (normal) and her fasting blood sugar went from 120 (pre-diabetic range) to 92 (normal range). She has also lost an additional 6 pounds since we last met!

I'm just finishing up my 12 week program and I can't say enough about how great I feel. Wes has worked with me on strength training, mixing in a variety of workouts so it doesn't get boring. Branda has been terrific in educating me about nutrition and how making the right food choices are critical factors in successful weight loss. She's emphasized the importance of eating more often (sounds funny, doesn't it?) to keep my metabolism up and I've learned to substitute healthier foods/snacks like fruits instead of desserts, chips, etc. She also pushed me to eat the foods my family eats -- with variety and portion control being the key. Overall, I've gained a greater appreciation for a more balanced diet and an awareness of how much food I need vs. how much I may want. This program has been well worth the investment, time and effort. The only downside is expense of all the new clothes I have to buy and the tailoring bills for the old ones.
